PREVIEW: Scunthorpe v Birmingham

SCUNTHORPE welcome Birmingham to the Eddie Wright Raceway tonight for the second leg of the Knockout Cup quarter-final (7.30).

New signings Max Clegg and Nathan Ablitt are set to make their Scorpions debut this evening knowing the hosts hold a two-point lead from the first leg at Perry Barr.

Promoter Rob Godfrey has paid tribute to the outgoing Joe Thompson for his efforts during his short spell with the club admitting that it broke his heart releasing the younger.

With the 28-day facility for Zaine Kennedy ending today, the North Lincolnshire outfit had to act with like-for-like riders unavailable it gave them no option other than making two changes rather than one.

Scorpions skipper, Simon Lambert said: “It’s a shame to see Joe go because he scored really well for us at Plymouth and Birmingham, but needs must I suppose.

“It was a rough night at Perry Barr on Wednesday, but as a team we got the win and take a lead into the home leg! It’s been a manic couple of day travelling and preparing bikes.

“We go again tonight wanting to finish the job off before heading to Berwick on Saturday looking to get some league points.”

For those who cannot make it to the Eddie Wright Raceway, Scorpions are live streaming home meetings for just £11.99 at:

SCUNTHORPE: Ryan Douglas, Simon Lambert (C), Max Clegg, Jake Allen, Michael Palm Toft, Nathan Ablitt, Connor Mountain.

BIRMINGHAM: Nick Morris, Alfie Bowtell, Zach Cook (G), Stefan Nielsen, Justin Sedgmen, Ty Proctor, James Pearson.
