SIMON Lambert has received a late call-up for the re-staging of the Sports Insure British Final Championship at Belle Vue on Sunday (3pm).
The Scunthorpe captain takes the place of Lewis Kerr who crashed out of the play-off quarter final between Edinburgh and Redcar on Friday.
Tomorrow’s event returns to the National Speedway Stadium after the weather intervened in the original attempt to run the meeting on August 1, when rain forced the abandonment after Heat 12.
The meeting will also feature the Nigel Pearson Award with supporters invited to vote after Heat 20 for their most entertaining rider from a short-list of four, as the sport pays tribute to the much-loved writer and broadcaster who passed away earlier this year.
A delighted Lambert said: “I’m buzzing to say the least because I was gutted to have missed out from the original meeting by literally 0.06 of a point or something silly like that!
“I have nothing to lose and everything to gain and try turn down heads for next year to gain a Premiership spot!
“It was a goal of mine to be in there’s this year so will give it my best! It’s great for individual sponsors and companies that are on my bikes covers and racesuit so tune into Eurosport tomorrow afternoon!”
