Lambert: “I’m hungrier than ever”

SIMON Lambert is gearing up for a busy spell for Scunthorpe.

With the Scorpions in the running for the play-offs, their skipper has very much led by example this year.

And the Boston-born has also shown his worth on the road lately too with paid-12 at Redcar on Friday.

Lambert said: “I’m having my best ever year in the sport. I’m more consistent and I have more than held my own at the hard No.2 spot this year!

“I’m possibly hungrier then ever and people still forget I’m riding once a week compared to those I’ve beaten lately who are riding several times a week! It proves how much I feel I’ve stepped it up this year!

“However with rolling averages I now drop to reserve because Jordan Palin doesn’t have an average. We have four meetings in eight days starting Friday and all four of them are going to be tough opposition.

“I’m setting myself a target of 45 points plus! We have just about secured a place for the play-offs but points mean prizes so as a team we are still going to be pushing hard finish as high as we can!

“This is the business end of the season and the fans have been great all year so I hope they continue to come out in big numbers to support us! I hope get a chance in the top flight next year too as I feel there’s even more to come!”

“Mental belief is a big thing and something I’ve worked on this year and it’s paid off! Things are already in motion for 2022 so let’s keep the wire tight and finish 2021 as good as we possibly can!”
