SCUNTHORPE completed a hat-trick of home Championship wins by seeing off Newcastle 57-33 at the Eddie Wright Raceway.
Thomas Jorgensen top scored with 14 points for the Scorpions and skipper Simon Lambert chipped in with 13 points winning his first four rides before missing out on a maximum in Heat 15.
Connor Mountain battled his way to 10+1 for the Diamonds and James Wright was their only race-winner, but Adam Roynon suffered rib damage in a heavy last-race spill.
The North Lincolnshire outfit now turn their attentions to the Knockout Cup this evening (Saturday) when they travel to Leicester looking to overturn a 14-point deficit from the first leg.
Lambert said: “It’s all clicked and it seems to be working the minute especially around Scunny. I was a bit disappointed to not get a maximum, I messed the first bend up a little bit in Heat 15 getting a bit throttle happy after not making the best of starts.
“Looking at the rest of the boys, Josh MacDonald was in the mix all night and his effort was more than his points total may suggest. He has got a lot of potential he just needs to relax more on his bike and the points will come.
“Tonight at Leicester will be tough but we’re going there looking to put ourselves in good stead ahead of the league fixture against them. We know they’re a top team who are solid from 1 to 7. It’s just about getting out there and enjoying it so we can earn some money.”
