SCUNTHORPE made it two Championship home wins out of two by defeating Eastbourne 49-41 at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Friday.
Youngster Jordan Palin enjoyed a terrific night at reserve, top-scoring with 11+1, whilst Tero Aarnio showed his true form with 10+1 after mechanical trouble early in the season.
While Richard Lawson collected 12+1 for the Eagles but they fell short of a league point after conceding 5-1s in Heats 12 and 14.
Scorpions skipper Simon Lambert said: “It was a great team performance and the team spirit was high compared to the last couple of meetings. Tero Aarnio came to the party scoring some big points and Jordan Palin was phenomenal, he looked so smooth and stylish on the bike, he was mega!
“Every rider in our team is as important as each other and Jordan was brilliant for us last night. I was a little disappointed to come last in my fourth ride after three good races. I got the fastest time of the night and I did it from the back.
“The track was brilliant last night although it did go off a bit after heat 10 but the racing was phenomenal. I just want a few of the Premiership promoters to take note of what I’m doing in the Championship now because I think a lot of people have written me off.”
SCUNTHORPE 49: Jordan Palin 11+1, Tero Aarnio 10+1, Simon Lambert 8, Theo Pijper 7+2, Thomas Jorgensen 7+1, Josh Auty 5, Josh MacDonald 1.
EASTBOURNE 41: Richard Lawson 12+1, Lewis Kerr 9+1, Tom Brennan 7, Edward Kennett 6+1, Kyle Newman 5+1, Jason Edwards 2, Nathan Ablitt 0.
