Preview: Scunthorpe vs Leicester KO Cup

SCUNTHORPE face Leicester in the first leg of the Championship KO Cup quarter-final at the Eddie Wright Raceway on Friday (7.30).

The Scorpions will be full of confidence following their comfortable 56-34 home win against Plymouth last weekend. Tero Aarnio returns to their line-up after missing the Gladiators clash.

Meanwhile, the visitors are yet to race this season, but new Lions skipper Kyle Howarth has had some track time already this term as guested for the North Lincolnshire side on Sunday. Another familiar face returning to the Raceway is Ryan Douglas who scored 14 points on his last appearance there in 2019.

Scorpions skipper Simon Lambert said: “Leicester are solid from No.1 to No.7. There is no such thing as an easy meeting anymore, so we just go again against the Lions. Every team in the league is good. There’s some stand out team in there like Glasgow, Redcar and then Leicester.

“There is never an easy race in our sport which is why we love it. The Eddie Wright Raceway is the best track in the country in my opinion whether it’s grippy or slick you just have to use your brain when you race.”
