Lambert To Race For Stags

SCUNTHORPE have named Simon Lambert in their line-up for the challenge clash with Leicester next Monday (August 31).

The Boston-born racer will be joined in the Stags’ line-up by British youngest Jordan Palin – who was originally set to join Lambert at reserve for Scunthorpe in the Championship until the season was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

After the success of  the British Youth Championship meeting which was staged at the Eddie Wright Raceway earlier this month, the Scunthorpe promotion will now host Leicester in a challenge fixture in front of a reduced crowd,

Lambert said: “It’s great to be given the opportunity to get some competitive racing and I am really looking forward to getting back out on track at Scunthorpe. This year has been hugely frustrating for everyone in speedway but the health and well-being has to come first.

“It will be nice to see some fans next Monday despite the meeting being at a reduced capacity but like I say, I really can’t wait to get back on the bike. We don’t know how many grassroots fixtures will be able to take place so we have to make the most of every opportunity we are given.”

Scunthorpe promoter Rob Godfrey added: “I’m really happy about our team line-up for Bank Holiday Monday. We have plenty of young riders on display, plus a couple of more experienced heads.
“Leicester are also putting together an exciting line-up and it should be a great match.

“We’re out to give Jordan all the outings we can, and he was an obvious choice for the Stags in our challenge match. Simon also really wanted to do the meeting, and he will make an ideal No.1.”

Limited tickets are available on a first-come first-served basis, and must be purchased in advance from scunthorpe-speedway.com
