Simon helped Newcastle secure their first victory of the season with a 52-38 win against Sheffield at Brough Park on Sunday.
Simon scored 5+1 – including an excellent paid-win alongside his teammate Steve Worrall as they secured a 5-1 for the Diamonds, in heat 10.
Simon added: “It was a solid performance against a good Sheffield team. It’s good to get our first win, particularly at home because we have had a tough start to the season against Redcar and Berwick.
“With Ty Proctor being my former teammate at King’s Lynn last year – I knew I needed to make a good start if I wanted to beat him.
“It was nice to get a 5-1 with Steve, we have got used to riding together now so, hopefully we can get more heat advantages for the team!”
